JIM POE:
Co-founder and founding president of AIMVETS, Jim is a retired
U. S. Navy Captain and former commanding officer of the U.S. Navy shore facilities in Singapore, Hong Kong, and The Philippines.  He is the former Chief Logistics Officer for the U.S. Atlantic Fleet Submarine Force.   Retiring from the Navy in 2000, Jim went to work for Compaq Computer Company (now HP).  Serving in various capacities for 18 years he retired in 2016 as Director of World-Wide Telemarketing Operations.  Jim is a 1976 graduate of the University of Mississippi and holds an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business.  He currently serves as a deacon at Magnolia First Baptist Church.  Jim is married to Frances Taylor Poe of Corpus Christi, TX.  They have three children and four grandchildren.  Jim and Fran live in Magnolia, TX.


CASEY SPENCER:
Co-founder of AIMVETS and past president, Casey received an undergraduate degree in Agricultural Economics at Texas A&M in 1976 and an MBA from Sam Houston State University in 1979.  Experienced in commercial and residential property management, Casey started Spencer Management Company in 1986.  Casey joined the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) in 2001 as Operations Auditor.  He traveled extensively over his 17 year career and gained valuable experience in every private and state-owned incarceration facility in Texas.  Retiring in August of 2018 he began volunteer work inside prisons.  Casey is married to Coleen Jauncey of Brisbane, Australia.  They have four children and have two granddaughters.  Casey and Coleen live in Huntsville, TX.


 

DOROTHY FULTON:
Dorothy is a Co-founder of AIMVETS.  Her story began on a farm in Midwest Missouri.  She graduated in Nursing from Texas Women’s University and has her masters in Nursing from the University of Missouri and post graduate as a Nurse Practitioner from the University of Oklahoma.  Dorothy served as a nurse in the US Army Nurse Corp in Vietnam from 1966 to 1968.   She remained in the health field after military service and served as Director of Nursing at a metropolitan Medical Center in Ardmore, OK, taught nursing at a Junior College and served in an in-home health and hospice care facility.  In addition to personal fulfillment with AIMVETS, the joy of Dorothy’s life is her family.  She has two children and five grandchildren.  Dorothy lives in Huntsville, TX.


SCOTT CHARPENTIER:
Scott is the President of AIMVETS and newly elected Board Member.  Born in St Louis, Mo, Scott has a BS in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla.  Upon graduation in 1976 Scott went to work for Amoco Petroleum Company (now BP) in Houston, TX.  Over the next 8 years he rose to the rank of District Engineer and supervised four disciplines of engineering.  In 1984 Scott moved to the business side of the company and started developing world scale LNG, methanol, and ammonia plants.  After a year in retirement from BP, Scott formed a private equity firm.  As President, he once again developed world scale plants.  Retiring in 2020, he became interested in AIMVETS and came on board as a volunteer in April of 2021.  Scott is married to Mary Ann Alonzo Charpentier of St Louis, Mo.  They have four daughters and six grandchildren.


GLENN RANEY:
Glenn is currently serving as Vice President of AIMVETS.  Born in the Panama Canal Zone, Glenn lived  overseas as a young child and  returned to the U.S. for his educational years.  Graduating in 1978 from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology,  Glenn began his  41-year career in the oil and gas industry. As a geophysicist he focused on international exploration and development.  After two separate expatriate assignments in North Africa, Glenn spent the last half of his career between international and domestic assignments.  Glenn retired from Anadarko Petroleum Corporation in 2019 after serving in both managerial and technical positions.  He started volunteering with AIMVETS in the fall of 2021.  Glenn is married to Julie Isbell Raney of Tomball, Texas.  Glenn and Julie have a son and a daughter.


CURTIS COLLIER:
Curtis serves as Secretary of AIMVETS.  His educational background includes a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M, a degree from MED-UTEP, and an MS from Utah State University.  He is a graduate of the US Army Command General Staff College.  Curtis’ military career began in Germany with the 56th Field Artillery Brigade (PERSHING).  Curtis continued military service in the Reserves.  He retired after 24 years of service from the Army in 2004.  As a civilian, he served as a NCAA Division 1 Track and Field coach and spent ten years in athletic administration at Sam Houston State University.  Retiring in 2019, he started working with incarcerated veterans.  Curtis is married to Charlotte Wahlin Collier of Randers, Denmark. They have two boys and live in Huntsville, TX.


MARY ANN CHARPENTIER:
Mary Ann is currently serving as Treasurer of AIMETS.  Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Mary Ann grew up in the city and enjoyed ice-skating, softball and spending time with friends.  Fluent in Spanish, Mary Ann worked in the International Marketing Department at Ralston Purina Company in St. Louis for 4 years.  In 1976, she married Scott Charpentier and began their journey in the oil and gas business which carried them to various cities in Texas, Illinois and Louisiana.  During that time, their family grew to include four daughters, each born in a different city and state!  Once their youngest started kindergarten, Mary Ann returned to college to finish her degree.  In 1999, Mary Ann graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education with a specialization in Mathematics.  She taught 7th and 8th grade math for 10 years.  Since retirement, Mary Ann spends time with her grandchildren, traveling and visiting family and friends back in St. Louis.  In 2021, she became active in AIMVETS working with Scott on various projects.


KEN SHORTREED:
Ken serves as Chief Counsel for AIMVETS.  In the military for eight years Ken served as a Communicator Specialist in the US Army and in Public Relations for the US Air Force.  Ken has a BS in Agriculture Education from the University of Arizona.  He was a Vocational Agriculture shop teacher for a number of years and has more than 1,000 class room hours in agriculture and business law.  Ken received a Juris Doctorate from South Texas College of Law in 1982.  In addition to serving in the legal field for 30 years, Ken worked as a Physician Assistant in a medical mission in Nogales, Arizona, a Mockup Engineer for Boeing Aircraft, and an Auctioneer.  Ken and his wife, Janice, live in Houston, TX and attend Champion Forest Baptist Church.


CHRIS CARTER:
Chris Carter is a retired Texas Department of Criminal Justice Administrator.   He joined the system with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology.  Over the course of his career at TDCJ, he obtained a Master’s degree in Social Rehabilitation.  The title of his thesis was “Vietnam Veterans in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice”.  Chris received a second Master’s degree in Counseling.  This was of vital importance when he came out of retirement and returned to TDCJ to handle the intake of new offenders coming out of all Texas jurisdictions into the Texas incarceration system.  Chris is enjoying his second retirement from TDCJ as an additional resource serving veteran prisoners with AIMVETS.
