Our Volunteers

AIMVETS volunteers come from all walks of life.  Our team of volunteers consists of a retired, high-ranking military officer, a former business owner that developed billion dollar chemical plants, a retired head of the Nasa Space Shuttle Program and later Nasa’s leader for the International Space  Station, a former TDCJ employee, a Vietnam Veteran nurse, teachers and other business professionals. We all share a common passion to serve incarcerated veterans.

Our team of volunteers are not registered psychologists.  Our volunteers are trained to teach the “Moral Reconation Therapy,” (MRT®).  This therapy is structured around 13 objectively defined units.  Volunteer training is paid for by AIMVETS, but some volunteers offer to pay for their own training as an “in-kind donation” to the organization.  Today training is via on-line modules and/or zoom sessions that can last from four to six hours, depending on the subject content.

AIMVETS volunteers travel to the prison units once or twice a week to teach the veterans.  Volunteers are typically scheduled for the prisons closest to their home location.  During their time at the prison, a TDCJ employee is always present in the room. All volunteers are “vetted” by the TDCJ.

AIMVETS is a 501(c) 3 charity organization that is funded solely by donations.  Our volunteers do not receive compensation for their work nor or they reimbursed for meals, gas or mileage for travel to the prisons.

WE NEED YOU!  THE VETERANS NEED YOU!

Going inside prison walls not your calling?
You can still help by sending a donation.
