Veterans helping veterans…that is WHY we teach. Prison is hard and those incarcerated clearly have done wrong. They are paying their debt to society. These men were willing to pay the ultimate price for defending our country, our freedoms, so we cannot turn our backs on these incarcerated veterans.
There are 16,000 veterans in the Texas prison system and 30% of combat veterans encounter the justice system. Nearly half of all veteran inmates suffer from combat related PTSD. Ninety percent of all those incarcerated will someday be paroled into the “free world.” They will be in your cities, where you shop, your neighborhood or possibly even as a co-worker. These veterans need our help to assimilate into society, to make better decisions and to become model citizens again.
Though they committed serious crimes, still at one time, they were prepared to offer the ultimate sacrifice for the defense of freedoms. We owe them the chance to reform.
NO MAN LEFT BEHIND!!
